#EmployeeVoices - Talent Acquisition Partner
This week, get to meet our Talent Acquisition Partner Elin Johansson! Have a read about her career path (that started in banking), what drives her in her role as a TA Partner, her new-found interest in Bachata, and more. Let’s dive in!
Tell us about what you do at Voi?
I’m a Talent Acquisition Partner to the market leaders in the Nordics and currently, I’m also the interim TAP for the DACH region. In the market segment we recruit for positions localised to specific regions. This includes a variety of roles, from a Country Manager to Fleet Specialists (driver/mechanic). In my role, I’m also trying to be a good partner to my Hiring Managers when it comes to different topics within recruitment.
What led you to the position that you’re in today?
I was deciding between getting a bachelor’s degree within Business Administration or Psychology, and decided to go with Business Administration. During my studies I got the opportunity to work at a bank, as an HR consultant and after graduation I did a finance internship in Switzerland. But I missed working with people. So, when I was contacted by Executive Search firm focusing on increasing diversity on c-levels positions for a Research & Project Manager position, I decided to accept. This is really where my interest in recruitment developed, and when I was contacted by Voi and got the opportunity to fully be a part of building a company whose vision I believe in, it was too interesting to turn down.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
I’m curious about people and in my job I have the opportunity to talk to people from all over the world with different backgrounds and experiences. The most rewarding part is to find people who are a good fit for Voi, the team and the position, and to see them grow and develop.
And what about the most challenging part?
At times, I have a lot of ongoing recruitments and then one of the most challenging aspects is to make sure that nothing falls through the cracks and that I deliver a good candidate experience to everyone. When this happens, I try to utilize the tools we have as much as possible, e.g setting automated tasks in our ATS system, and setting reasonable timelines and expectations to everyone involved.
What’s one thing people do at interviews that impresses you the most?
When a candidate has prepared and can present examples of their own experience relevant for the position and asks me complex and challenging questions.
We heard you like to dance? Tell us more!
Haha, yeah! My best friends have tried to convince me to start dancing bachata for over a year. I thought it wasn’t my type of thing, I’m more of a “ball sports girl”, but one thing doesn’t have to exclude the other and now that I’ve tried it I’m really hooked. Soon I will finish my second course. 💃
