#EmployeeVoices - Talent Acquisition Partner
This week, we had the chance to meet with our brilliant Talent Acquisition Partner Martina Botic, talking about what she’s up to at Voi, job interview tips, travel tips in the Balkan countries, and more. Let’s hear it!
So Martina - what do you do at Voi?
I’m a part of Voi’s Talent Acquisition team and I’m mainly focusing on tech recruitment. So in other words, me and my team are responsible for hiring great new talent to the company!
When I think about my daily work I realize that I’m pretty spoiled since my job is to interview and meet so many amazing people. So don’t be shy out there, if you wanna hear more about Voi feel free to reach out to me and we can grab a coffee - everyone who knows me knows I’m always up for a chat! ☕
What drove you down this career path?
I think it’s the combination of me being passionate about people and my strong belief that people are the most important part of a company. I can’t describe the feeling and happiness when a recruitment is completed and you just know that you have the right person in the right position.
Your top three tips for a successful job interview?
1. Know why you’re there: Do some self reflection to be able to answer questions like: Why are you looking for a new job? Why did you apply? What made you answer the recruiter’s message? What do you find interesting about the role and the company? What do you enjoy in your current role?
2. Practice, practice, and practice again: It’s one thing to have all these great answers in your head, but a totally different thing to say them out loud. So practice. Talk to the mirror, a friend, a parent, your cat, the dishwasher - you name it. Practice on your answers out loud so you can hear how it sounds.
3. Prepare questions: You are in the interview to ask questions as well so use this time to get as much information as possible. What would you like to know about the role and the company? How is the company facing challenge X? Why should you pick this company over any competition?
And most important - we’re all humans. It’s ok to be nervous, to stumble over words, to not give the perfect answer on each question. Just make sure to do your best and know why you’re there, practice and prepare your questions.
Where can we find you on a typical weekend?
Probably with my friends somewhere where there is food and drinks. Ask me again when Covid is over and I’m probably traveling around as much as possible! Might be a bit biased here - but I really recommend a visit to any country in the Balkans. Croatia to see the amazing coastline and sea, Bosnia & Herzegovina for delicious food, culture and nature (and it’s so cheap!!) Belgrade in Serbia for history and a nightlife like no other, Albania for the beaches and undiscovered areas… I could go on forever, reach out to me for any tips! 🗺️
