#EmployeeVoices - Senior iOs Developer
This week, we had the chance to chat with our Senior iOs Developer Nikhil Bhosale. Let's hear about how his three-year journey at Voi has been so far, what led him to his career, what he eats every day (!) for dinner, and more. 🥦 Let's tune in!
Nikhil - tell us about your Voiage so far!
I started off as a Senior iOS Developer at Voi in June 2019. This was the first time I worked in Europe and Voi was still a new startup. It was a really good experience to explore code that had been written. What surprised me positively at the start was that I was given an incredible amount of trust from the beginning with large projects to lead (like the Hunter app - an app for collecting, charging and deploying our scooters). I was happy to see Voi’s trust in me - that was really encouraging.
What I really enjoy about Voi is the culture - the culture here is really open and developers definitely have freedom of work. Voi has given me extra responsibility as a Scrum Master which turned out to be really beneficial for my personal growth. So now, I’m a Developer plus Scrum Master. For the last three years, I've had the chance to work with almost all the teams at Voi. I’d also say that Voi is a really good place to work at if you appreciate working with people from diverse cultures. I love it here - and look forward to the journey ahead.
What led you to this career?
Well, earlier I was really interested in Java programming and I did OC JP certification too. After that, I joined an IT company back in India and I was asked to work on iOS development. Back then, I had curiosity about iPhones and the overall Apple ecosystem. Those were still the early days of iOS development and people were adopting to iOS, and considering future scope and out of my own interest, I thought it would be a great career choice and I must say it turned out to be really good.
What advice would you give to those that would like to get into the field of being an iOS Developer?
I feel beginners are already knowledgeable and really smart. Plus, they already refer to lots of online resources so I don’t have any special advice. I'll just say: focus on learning iOS basics thoroughly and always be a team player - that’s really important.
Where can we find you on a typical weekend?
I try to be outside as much as I can. ☀️ So, usually you’ll find me roaming around T-centralen (the centre of Stockholm) on a Voi along with my wife and friends. And, having coffee and cake in different cafeterias (or having fika, as you say in Sweden).
Lastly, what are you having for dinner tonight?
So.. You may be a bit disappointed at this one but I actually only eat raw green veggies and cottage cheese for dinner - daily. I like to stay healthy and this is one of the ways I do it. So, that’s what I’m having!
