#EmployeeVoices - Senior Backend Engineer
Excitement abounds as we introduce Marwa Ahmed Goda! Born in Cairo, in 2019 she decided to leave Egypt for Sweden. Now she’s our most recently joined Senior Backend Engineer at our Stockholm HQ.
We asked Marwa to share some quick facts about herself, here’s what she said:
While in school, I fell in love with mathematics and physics, which later propelled me into studying engineering in college, where I got to explore the practical applications of mathematics and physics more thoroughly. I later specialised in computer engineering and my preferred subjects, algorithms and computer hardware. After my graduation 14 years ago, I embarked on a career in the software industry, working for various businesses in sectors such as telecom, automotive, e-commerce and now micromobility.
My mom’s usually found in the kitchen preparing pasta, adorned with a luscious béchamel sauce in between layers of pasta and minced beef – like an Egyptian lasagna! That’s probably my favourite dish – either that or Hawawshi, a savoury delight consisting of spiced ground meat, typically beef or lamb, stuffed into flatbread and either baked or grilled. Think of it as Egypt’s answer to a hamburger but on steroids!
Prior to relocating to Sweden, my favourite seasons of the year were fall, winter and spring, but since moving here, I definitely like spring and summer the most. Anyone who’s experienced a Swedish winter knows what I’m talking about… Nowadays, I usually go to Egypt on a combined vacation-and-work trip while spending time with my family. Thanks, Marwa – we’re overly excited to have you on board!
