#EmployeeVoices - Operations Manager
Meet Elisabeth Wurmser - our Operations Manager in Denmark! 🇩🇰 Let’s hear about her role, challenges, her love for Korean TV, and more.
What do you do as an Operations Manager at Voi?
Well, the local Operations team is responsible for the overall performance of our markets, which I look at as the 3 Cs: customers, city, company. We work to provide the best service and experience to our customers, while being compliant with the city’s regulations and accomplishing our company’s goals. Therefore, I work very closely with the local fleet specialist and warehouse teams across our four Danish cities, to ensure we always have available (and properly parked) scooters when and where our riders want them. I also share our ways of working with other countries and the Central teams, and vice versa.
I love working with various cross-functional and cross-country Voi teams, collaborating on how to improve our product and processes. I also enjoy the diversity of experiences that comes with the role, as I have been involved in organizing water clean ups and safety events, rolling out new scooter models, recruiting, hunting for commercial real estate, shift planning & scheduling, building partnerships, and navigating blizzards & COVID – a sure way to step out of one’s comfort zone!
Tell us about a work challenge?
Every country and city has its own regulations, which means we have to have different practices for how we operate. It’s up to the local team to customize Voi’s ways of working to ensure we meet (and surpass) the municipalities’ and our customers’ expectations.
It’s also challenging working in an industry that is so new because it means facing naysayers. My favorite comparison is how snowboarding was viewed by skiers before it was “accepted”. As with any new service or product, it takes time to fit into most people’s “normal.” Thankfully, Voi accepts every obstacle as an opportunity to innovate and push us further towards our mission. Snowboarding wasn’t added to the Olympics in a day - so we’ll keep advocating for cities made for living and the 15-minute city!
We heard you like to trapeze and watch Korean TV. Tell us about it!
Haha, I have a reputation in the Copenhagen office for always talking about “that time I took trapeze classes.” I strongly recommend trying it out - so fun! But while I go through hobby “phases,” one of my long-lasting ones is my passion for Korean movies and shows. It started when I was at university watching Train to Busan and Oldboy with some friends. After that I was hooked and started binging K-dramas, especially during the COVID lockdown, and ended up even learning the Korean alphabet.
Top three dishes?
My go-to dishes are Confit de Canard, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Ceviche. For dessert, I’ll seek out mango sticky rice, a lava cake, or my mom’s crêpes with Nutella. Mmm!
