Head of Operations (Germany) - m/f/d
YOUR MISSION AT VOI
As Head of Operations (Germany), you will report directly to the General Manager – Germany and lead the full Fleet Operations organisation — a team of around 280 people across multiple warehouses and field sites, spanning several management layers — that keeps our fleet available, reliable and on the street across the country. This is a Senior operational leadership role in our biggest market, where you will be managing the leaders who drive city-level execution across every market, and hold full strategic, budgetary, and P&L responsibility for operations across Germany.
A hands-on leadership role for someone who is energised by scale, complexity and a demanding operational environment. You won't do it from behind a dashboard — you'll set the direction, build the team that delivers it, and step in when it matters. This will include:
Operational leadership at scale: Leading a large, distributed workforce through several layers of management — setting clear standards, creating accountability that cascades from the warehouse floor to the leadership team, and building a high-performance culture across sites.
Strategy & Planning: Working closely with the General Manager to own the long-term operations strategy, the budget, and a clear plan for each city.
Operational Excellence: Continuously optimising workflows and costs, monitoring KPIs and driving immediate corrective action with your team when performance slips.
Workforce Management: Driving demand-driven capacity planning and recruiting the right talent, so staffing and fleet availability meet operational SLAs at the lowest cost.
Physical Asset Management: Owning and optimising vehicles, warehouses, facilities and operational equipment — maximising utilisation and lifespan to keep the fleet moving and revenue flowing.
3PL & Vendor Performance: Managing third-party providers to a clear performance standard, holding them accountable on cost, quality and availability.
Health & Safety: Ensuring a safe working environment across all facilities and field operations, in close partnership with the central Operations team.
Cross-functional collaboration: Partnering with the regional Operations and Market Development teams, the wider Fleet organisation, and the Head of Operations Strategy — who owns the analytical, planning and continuous-improvement agenda alongside you.
WHAT YOU NEED TO EMBARK
We are looking for a seasoned operational leader who leads from the front — someone who combines a hands-on approach with sound commercial judgement, thrives in a fast-moving, physically distributed operation, and knows how to develop and empower the leaders beneath them. In addition, we believe the right person has:
8+ years in operational leadership (mobility, logistics, last-mile, q-commerce, warehousing or a related field), including proven experience leading large, distributed blue-collar and field teams through multiple layers of management across several cities or regions.
A track record of building accountability and performance culture at scale — not just managing a team, but developing the managers who manage the teams.
Solid experience owning budgeting, forecasting, cost performance and P&L for a sizeable operation.
Strong, practical understanding of operational models — including 3PL set-ups and workforce/capacity planning.
Demonstrated ability to drive complex, cross-functional initiatives and influence senior stakeholders.
Comfort using data and AI tools to steer an operation — enough to ask the right questions and act on the answers (this role leads the operation; deep analytics sits with the Operations Strategy team).
Bachelor's degree in operations, engineering, business or similar.
Full professional proficiency in English and German.
Don’t meet every requirement? If you are excited about this role and our mission, and have relevant, transferable skills, we encourage you to apply - even if you don’t check every box.
