Mechanical Engineer
We usually respond within two weeks
Since 2018, Voi has been on a mission to create safe, sustainable and reliable micromobility for everyone. Today we are the #1 e-scooter service in Europe, operating in 100+ cities with over 275+ MILLION rides to date. It has been an amazing journey and we have no intention of stopping now!
As a Mechanical Engineer in the Vehicle Hardware & Quality Assurance team, you’ll play a key role in the development of our next-generation hardware, ensuring it meets our high standards of repairability, reliability, and performance. With end-to-end ownership of product development, field operations and focus on supplier collaboration, this is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on how we roll out micromobility solutions worldwide.
Your focus will be on setting requirements and specifications, steering supplier designs, and ensuring successful testing and verification of hardware throughout its lifecycle. You'll work cross-functionally, bridging the gap between Voi's in-house teams and our supplier network. Some weeks per year, you will travel to China to maintain close collaboration with our supplier. From initial concept to mass production and field support, you'll contribute to every phase of development, ensuring our hardware is both cutting-edge and user-friendly.
YOUR MISSION AT VOI
End-to-End Hardware Development: Be part of the co-development of hardware with suppliers, ensuring alignment with Voi’s requirements.
Testing & Verification: Define, review, and verify supplier designs through rigorous testing and evaluations, safeguarding quality and reliability.
Issue Resolution: Investigate in-field failures after launch, determine root causes, and implement solutions with suppliers to improve product performance.
Collaboration: Work closely with Voi teams (HW & QA, IoT, SW, procurement, supply chain) and external partners to deliver seamless solutions.
Global Impact: Travel quarterly to China (a few weeks at a time) to collaborate with suppliers and occasionally visit Voi markets for hands-on fieldwork.
WHAT YOU NEED TO EMBARK
Bachelor’s or Master's degree in an engineering discipline (mechanical preferred).
Good experience in end-to-end mechanical engineering development, including CAD, CAE, and FEA.
Expertise in setting requirements, conducting design reviews, and performing hands-on assessments (e.g., repairability, serviceability).
Familiarity with DFMEA and PFMEA processes.
Strong knowledge of reliability testing and verification.
Proven track record of supplier collaboration (bonus for experience with Chinese suppliers).
Excellent problem-solving abilities (data-driven approach is a plus; SQL knowledge is a bonus).
Strong communication skills in English (bonus if you’re proficient in Chinese).
