- What does a General Manager at Voi do?

Voi’s a B2G2C (business to government to customer) startup in the mobility industry, which requires engagement on the software, hardware, regulatory and consumer spaces. Hence, this is a really all-encompassing role, where you are responsible for the strategy, launch and expansion via tenders, the hiring and development of top performing managers, while being ultimately accountable for reaching the P&L goals and ensuring overall team excellence in street logistics and maintenance operations. On top of this, you’re the key go-to person for brand, marketing, pricing and commercial strategy prioritization, as well as the top market spokesperson for the media and towards public officials.

- What do you enjoy the most about working at Voi?

I really believe in Voi’s mission to create cities made for living, free from noise and pollution, by supporting the transition from private vehicle use to multimodality (using public transport in combination with micromobility or walking). It’s such a millennial thing to say, but it’s critical for me to work in building a business that has societal and environmental value. On top of that, I enjoy working with people from all around the world. Voi’s a Swedish company, my managers have been Danish, British and Afghan, my direct reports are Italian and Belgian, their teams are French, Spanish, Moroccan, Algerian and the list goes on. It’s truly enriching!

- Tell us a bit about what you do on a day-to-day basis in your role?

It depends a lot on the priority at hand. One day you’ll find me going deep into tender reviews, another day I could be in the Brussels warehouse with the team to work on our joint values or in Marseille meeting with public authorities working together on transitioning from free-floating to mandatory parking zones.

- What do you look forward to the most this year?

The team has worked really hard on various tenders: Bordeaux, Poitiers and Marne-la-Vallée in France, as well as Malaga in Spain. We’re anxious to hear the results that should be announced in the following weeks. We’re also very excited to start working on upcoming tenders, including but not limited to Madrid, Paris and Lyon. It’s fantastic that more and more cities and communities are looking towards clean and shared solutions to help them solve some of their most pressing mobility priorities. We see ourselves as an extension and complement of public transport and being able to be a part of this in partnership with cities and key stakeholders is extremely rewarding.
